Flash Pixel with 16 KB page size support

This page explains how to Flash Pixel with 16 KB page size support.

Note: Pixel 8 instructions to build and flash have been removed because vendor blobs are no longer available in AOSP.

Flash Pixel 8 and 9 Android 15 devices

In Android 15, there are 6 Pixel devices that support 16 KB page size and can be flashed using Android Flash Tool:

• Pixel 9 Pro (caiman)
• Pixel 9 Pro XL (komodo)
• Pixel 9 (tokay)
• Pixel 8 Pro (husky)
• Pixel 8 (shiba)
• Pixel 8a (akita)

To flash the devices with 16 KB support, follow these instructions:

1. Connect your Pixel device to your desktop computer or laptop.
2. Go to flash.android.com
3. In the box Find a build to flash, type git_aosp-main-with-phones-throttled.

4. In the Build results combo box, select a target:

   • aosp_caiman_16k for Pixel 9 Pro
   • aosp_komodo_16k for Pixel 9 Pro XL
   • aosp_tokay_16k for Pixel 9
   • aosp_husky_pgagnostic for Pixel 8 Pro
   • aosp_shiba_pgagnostic for Pixel 8
   • aosp_akita_16k for Pixel 8a
   Note: The suffix _pgagnostic was used in the first 16 KB targets. The newest targets use the _16k suffix.

5. Select Wipe Device. This option deletes all the user data on the device.

6. Click Install build.

Note: When the Pixel device is connected to a laptop, make sure to checkbox Allow USB debugging in the dialog.
